Volunteering with the NIHR BioResource Centre Cambridge

The support and altruism of our volunteers is vital to the ongoing success of the NIHR BioResource Centre Cambridge. Becoming a member is only the first step in the process and it is the participation of volunteers in further studies that makes the NIHR BioResource Centre Cambridge unique and allows us to support such a diverse range of different research studies.

Anyone who lives, works or studies near Cambridge can join the Cambridge BioResource. You do not need to receive an invitation to join and we welcome all new members. Recruitment is ongoing and volunteers can join at any time.

Patients

In addition to recruiting volunteers from the local area, we also work with local GP surgeries and in clinics in collaboration with Addenbrooke's Hospital to recruit patients. CBR nurses attend clinics so that they can meet patients and offer them the opportunity to volunteer.

We have actively recruited patients from several clinics including:

  • Type 1 diabetes
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Lupus
  • Psoriasis
  • Vasculitis
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease
