Open Evening

On Thursday 27th June 2019 the Cambridge BioResource held its annual open evening. The open evening is designed as a way to thank volunteers and to promote the work we have been doing over the past year. This year we held the open evening on a sunny Thursday evening in June.

The open evening was opened by Jaimie Taylor the Cambridge BioResource Manager who thanked the volunteers for attending. The open evening continued with four talks from researchers that have used Cambridge BioResource volunteers for their studies:

Dr Nathalie Kingston, Director of NIHR BioResource for Translational Research thanked the volunteers at the end, discussed our new branding and invited volunteers for tea and coffee. We had 180 people signed up for the event with the capacity to seat 200. Unfortunately we had some cancellations, however the evening was a success overall. It was great to see a variety of people show up. The researchers loved the opportunity to showcase their work, especially as some of them have recently completed their PhD and are accepting job offers for new projects. We used the Cancer Research UK catering which was tasty as always. We asked for feedback shortly after the event which will be used to help to improve future events. The feedback was greatly appreciated.

We look forward to seeing the volunteers again at next year’s open evening.
