Cambridge BioResource attended the University of Cambridge Science Festival at the Cambridge Corn Exchange on Saturday 14th March and Sunday 15th March 2015. Members of the public were offered the opportunity to obtain a printout of their complete body composition profile looking at weight, percentage body fat, body fat mass, body mass index (BMI), fat free mass, estimated muscle mass, total body water and basal metabolic rate using TANITA, our Segmental Body Composition Analyser.
By entering a volunteer’s age and height measurements into the machine, the TANITA uses 8 electrodes via a harmless electrical signal, which, is pushed through the body, to report body mass readings in the right and left arms, legs and trunk. The reading only takes a few minutes and the information is generated via a useful printout.
We had a great weekend. We were busy throughout both days meeting members of the community, giving out lots of information about the Cambridge BioResource to interested volunteers and we got the opportunity to talk to and invite those interested to find out more and join our fast expanding panel of volunteers.
